Kylie Minogue is the Empress of Pop as far as I am concerned. Every few years she releases a new album loosely based around a different theme and this year’s gift recreates music that should be played at Discos. Every song is danceable and every song lifts the spirit like an airy pastry.
Like the rest of us, Kylie was stuck at home and she ended up recorded this album in her house and doing her own sound engineering. Also like the rest of us, she got sick of the real world and desperately needed an escape. She succeeded with this album and I greatly adore it.
Look, last week was rough. Watching the Capitol building get invaded by racists and Nazis was psychologically devastating. We watched a coup attempt happen in real time. The country survived for now, but man, do I have anxiety for the future. We all need a little upbeat escapism in our lives and DISCO is doing that for me.
