My experiment with Kindle has been a smidge profitable.  Not great money but some, which is better than I was doing at Lulu.  I have seen some readers disliking that I am selling through Amazon but they don’t exactly suggest another avenue that I could sell through.  I admit that my own online buying leans more towards role-playing games and video clips.  Consider this post your chance to manage my sales.

When you buy your erotica on the internet, where do you buy it?

  1. Sadly, Amazon. Though I prefer to buy from Smashwords. A lot of the problem is that Amazon has one of the best interfaces for getting your attention. It takes an extra step to wander over to Smashwords. There is also that annoying “missing covers” problem on the Kindle Fire when you manually upload them too. :(

Given a choice, I would buy directly from the author in a heartbeat, though erotica is a bit harder because of the obscenity crap you went through with your rape dogs.

There needs to be an Amazon of porn. … and I wish I could write it.

  2. I buy on Amazon…and I haven’t found a problem with that yet.

  3. While I buy paper books from all over the place, I’m still buying ebooks directly from Amazon – purely because I’m still getting the hang of my kindle interface, and I trust that when I buy an ebook from Amazon it will actually arrive in my kindle!

  4. I actually buy from several places:

    http://www.fictionwise.com
    http://www.a1adultebooks.com
    https://shop.renebooks.com
    http://www.excessica.com

I only just recently started using smashwords after buying some of your books there.

I have nothing against Amazon, I just want more options on format than just Kindle.

  5. sorry, I was mistaken when I said I purchased your books at Smashwords, but i did discover them recently and I am liking them more and more

  6. Thanks for all the feedback folks. And thanks to Tanilien for clarifying that Smashwords bit because that I was really confused :)

  7. Amazon, primarily because I read a lot on my phone, and the Kindle app for Android is the most fuss-free I found. Other formats can be read on Android but I have to fuck around with transferring the files to my phone myself, via my computer, whereas I can 1-Click Buy titles from Amazon that just show up instantly on my phone. Convenience is gold.

If other sites could be that hassle-free (maybe there are some, I honestly didn’t look much after realising how streamlined Amazon was) I might use them. It’d come down to a price war then, if the prices differed, but right now it’s just easier to go for Kindle versions.
